I’ve met four Louisiana governors in person in my lifetime:

John McKeithen (when I was 15 or so at a campaign event in Covington, LA, he shook my hand–I was sooooooooooooo impressed!);

Jimmie Davis (long after his retirement, he was over 80 years of age in the late 70′s; I arranged student musicians to accompany him at a Louisiana College alumni event in singing “You Are My Sunshine” and met with him before the event–that was rich and memorable!);

Edwin Edwards (the jerk, who blatantly hit on my wife at a Eunice, LA, Chamber of Commerce function in the mid-eighties; I feel no sorrow that he’s in prison);

and most recently,

Bobby Jindal (our Father’s Day guest speaker at church, who posed with my little family).

I really liked Gov. Jindal. He was authentic, personable, and utterly sincere. His Christian testimony was completely apolitical, non-denominational, and amazingly honest. Politics aside, you have to love this guy.
