Today, Drew Brees became the highest paid football player in history. Some of my friends argue that no one playing a game is worth $20 million for five years. I admit they have an argument.
But so does Drew, and so do I. If sports means so much to the State economy, as I believe sports does in Louisiana, and if sports elsewhere drives similar bargains, I say “Let the bargaining begin.” Drew played the market, and he got his due. I would have done the same!
Along those lines, at the end of the day, Drew Brees is better for Louisiana than our sleezy, smooth-talking politico-Governor Bobby Jindal.
Hey, Drew–Wanna run for governor?
(I bet he’d win!)

I’ll vote for him! He’s a good guy and he, unlike some in NFL, deserves every penny. Go Saints!
Yes Sir, I agree 100%! Every four years Louisiana’s governor Mr. Jindal (who says he’s got the only job he wanted) is out in other states, campaigning for and putting his name in the hat for others Vice President running mate. Maybe if he’d “tell” the truth and stay home he’d save Louisiana taxpayer dollars and our cuts to higher education and Louisiana Charity hospitals wouldn’t be so much? You can’t have it both ways Mr. Jindal!
If the money isn’t there, it can’t be spent. Something’s gotta go! Only thing to do is cut services!! If you lost your job and was out of work for 6 months, could you continue to live as you do when you’re getting a pay check every month? The state could cut providing those phones and fancy techy items to staff and save!! Cut those costs and save a couple staff people!!!
AND too many sick people and too many poor people in this world to pay even the best quarter back that kind of money!!
And I’d bet he’d do a better job!!
